Flashback Friday (Spurs Edition)

So here I am on a Friday night, enjoying the peace and quiet. HA! Kind of hard to do when my neighbors dogs wont stop barking. They've been barking non stop for the past three hours, I kid you not. They bark at everything. I'm totally convinced that they can hear me typing inside my house and are barking because of me typing. Like what else would they be barking at, right?

Any way J is working tonight and, even though Js been in Law enforcement for (almost) three years now, I still hate Friday nights by myself. So I decided to post my first #flashbackfriday post in honor of the Spurs playing tonight and to remind me that not all Friday nights suck ;)

Here we go, Spurs game February 28th, 2014 Military Appreciation Night
And yes, those are court-side seats front row if you may ask ;)

And no, we did not purchase them they were graciously given to us courtesy of Js dad!

Not only did Spurs win that game but directly behind us sat THE David Robinson. J got to take a picture with him. How cool!! So see, not all Friday nights stink . Just the ones were I wish I were cuddling with J watching Netflix. Speaking of Netflix, I guess I'll go back to watching Army Wives now ( RIP Claudia Joy. Been crying my eyes out for two hours) and eating my skinny cow ice cream :) Also, GO SPURS!!!

Until Next Time,

Love Kristy

( P.S. After 33 years of service, J's dad retired from the Army last February. We are happy to have him home and glad he is apart of our daily lives now. A special thank you to all of our soldiers that have served and are currently serving in our military. A big ol' hug from Texas. We love you guys!)

2015 Happenings

Good morning blog world! For the longest time I've been wanting to make over my page but just didn't know how(insert technology impaired quote here) so I kind of let my blog be on the back burner. Well after spending the past two days trolling blogs, I finally had the motivation to blog! So I treaded into unknown territory and started looking into making blog designs. I went as far as making my own, personalized header and then quit and bought a pre-made template. Maybe one of these days I'll learn all of the technical aspects but for now this will have to do! So in case you were wondering where my "about me" is.. I accidentally deleted it. Sooooorry. Anyway, I feel like updating you all on a little 2015 happenings so here goes :)

- I start my senior year this year at UH of Victoria (go jags!)
- I will, hopefully, be fully certified as a teacher come September. (Our education program requires that we are certified by student teaching)
- J starts his 3rd year working for the PD!
- My brother and sister-in-law are welcoming their first born in September. I'm going to be an Aunt!!!

I have a feeling at the end of this year I'll be saying "2015" was an amazing year! Until then I'll be dragging on by the skin of my teeth taking 12 hrs this summer and 18 hrs in the fall! Say a little prayer for me yall! And also taking my certification exams to become fully certified as a teacher in Texas!! Now that's a sentence I could definitely say a few times :)

Until next time,
Love Kristy

(P.S. I also deleted the bar at the bottom to leave comments. Whoops!)

(P.P.S I hope to one day start my own TpT shop! Look for that in the near future)

Under Construction

To all my fellow readers out there... if I have any :P

I am currently under construction so bear with me.

Also I changed the name from "Kevlar and Pearls" to "Kevlar and Chalkboards". Main reason for doing so because I wanted to incorporate both important aspects of my life into this blog: Teaching and Law Enforcement.

After giving my blog a make over, I hope to blog more often. :)

Ya'll have a great Friday and a fabulous weekend!!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...

So that part might not be as true in my house since my dachshund, Peter, is easily stirred. Sorry Santa!

Anyway, Merry Christmas Eve everyone! I thought this was a perfect time to blog since I am home watching Christmas movies and waiting for my brother and sister in law to drive in from Houston :)

My house is pretty empty right now. Parents are out at a church service and my sister has gone off for a Christmas Eve dinner. So it's just me and peter relaxing by the Christmas tree. J should be calling anytime soon since he has to work in the morning. My love had to work earlier as well. The perks of being in Law Enforcement are endless. I am so thankful that God has brought him home safely so many nights.

Well I figured I would stop by my deserted blog and leave a little post before the morning. Ya'll have a good one :)

A million and one things

I think about the future ALL THE TIME.

I watched Mom's night out the other night with my boyfriend and my heart just yearned for that time in my life. I know Im suppose to enjoy college and cherish the moments and all that jazz but I've never been the one to enjoy the "here and now".

I feel like this time of my life is the in between. Nothing is happening while I wait for well, everything to happen. Waiting to student teach, waiting to get engaged, waiting to graduate, waiting for my future wedding, waiting for future job, waiting for kids.... waiting, waiting, waiting.

I just hope I don't miss any of the little moments that happen between now and then.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

I need to have this posted everywhere!

Until next time,

Love Kristy

Season 9 of Greys

What just happened. One minute Lexi and Sloan are there and the next their dead... I can't watch the rest of Greys without them.. And Arizona!?!! I did not see that coming.

I cried and cried and cried and cried. So now I'm going to bed sad and will be regretting staying up late when I wake up for work in 5 hours.

Just thought I'd get a little Greys rant in before bed time.
Night,

Baking Bug

So the baking bug hit today, pretty hard. And it wasn't even holiday baking just regular cookies and brownies and the occasional lemon bar ( couldn't have all chocolate).

They came out all right. I'm never good with cutting them. Just eating them.

It's J's weekend to work so I've been trying to catch up on homework and finish projects. Not a thing was crossed off of my to-do list. Oh well! I spent the weekend enjoying doing nothing but watching Grey's Anatomy :) and now Monday will be soon be upon us. Yay. Hope yall all had a great weekend
