Cheers to the New Year

Happy New Years Eve bloggy peeps. In just a few short hours we are going to be ringing a new year! A brand spanking new year. I have always loved fresh starts and a new year has that written all over it. But first, lets talk 2015.

In my last post I spent quite a few paragraphs already recapping the time that I was gone so I'll just spend a short time recapping the whole 2015.

2015 Recap

- I started my senior year in college
- Our family welcomed a new addition
- I turned 21 ;)
- We closed on 5 acres of waterfront property
- Our family summer vacation to Concan was one for the books

That is about it folks. 2015 was a slow year but we hit some major milestones throughout the year.

Also 2015 was a really rough year for Law Enforcement. I want to pay my respects to all of the brave men and women who courageously lost their lives this year defending and honoring the thin blue line. I truly hope to see all of the violence and hate come to a stop in 2016.

As for 2016, I hope you are the best year yet to come! I can't wait to graduate and start my career next year and I look forward to many more memories to come.  Happy New Year!

Love,
Kristy

Guess whose back, back again.

I am back!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad to see that my poor, neglected blog is still here and hasn't decided to pack it's bags and look for another blogger that would treat it better. Tear. I apologize to my readers, you who are out there I hope, for my absence. I could come up with a thousand excuses but we'll just leave it at the fact that life is crazy.

When I last posted it was summer and I was finishing summer classes. Insert a flood of memories coming back to me at once. Boy was that fun. I say that sarcastically but there is some truth to it. While I was pretty much spending most of my time in school, I did get to have some fun on vacation and enjoy time with family and friends.

I guess now is the time for a recap on the last 5 MONTHS that I was gone. Tear.
I'm actually going to go through my pictures and add in highlights based on the months my pictures were taken.

Well August was not that eventful. Just busy finishing my last few weeks of summer classes ( I finished with 3 As and 1 B btw) and starting my senior year in college! So that was exciting.

September was one of the best months for my family. Why? Because we welcomed a new addition to our family. My sister in law gave birth to a happy and healthy baby boy on September 15th. I just love him so much! He is so precious. Something else exciting happened in September that I can't quite tell yet, but soon. Oh yeah and remember when I mentioned that we closed on our land. I wish you could have seen how overgrown everything was. We spent most of our summer trying to clear brush and get the land leveled. It was a nightmare. So much sweat, and tears, have been put into that land. Well we ended up having most of the brush and trees cleared out by a family friend. What took us like 4 hours to do, he ended up doing it in 10 minutes. Got to love bulldozers.

Baby Joshua's first day on this world. (9-15-2015)
Our visit with him a few days after he was born (9-19-2015)
So here are a few before pictures of the bottom part of our land.
"Pre-bulldozer "

After bulldozer. It looks so nice!

October, November, December, because nothing really happened in those three months that requires a whole paragraph. These past three months have really just been trying to finish the semester and getting ready for the holidays. I had to pass my state exams in order to be allowed to student teach in the spring so there was a lot of time trying to study and get ready for that. And in case you didn't read that right, I did say student teaching. This is the moment you stop and say a little prayer for me ;) I have heard some of the best, and worst, stories about student teaching. I am nervous and anxious but honestly so excited. This is a really big step towards graduation and the start of my educational career. I could jump up and down right now but I just ate too much candy so I wont. And also I spent a lot of time with James and family and friends. The holidays were special this year because we got to spend time with Joshua. I loved every minute of getting to snuggle with my sweet nephew. It was also special because James had Christmas off so we got to spend our 6th Christmas together :) He usually works on the Holidays so it was nice having him off.

October visit with Baby J (10-10-15)
I just love baby hands.
Our baby, Bear, and his first visit to the land.
He loves hanging out with his daddy.
Christmas morning 2015. He was wide awake in his pack-n-play staring at the Christmas tree.
So precious
Look how big he is. Aunt Kristy said stop growing.
Side note- For anyone wondering, my lovely boyfriend still has not popped the question. But I'm hoping for NYE. A girl can wish right.

So there is a short recap of what I've been up to. I'm hoping to keep up regularly now so I wont have to spend so much time catching you up. I'll probably try to make that a new years resolution but then again I am starting student teaching so who knows. Ha.

Until next time,
Kristy

Credit Scores and GPA's

So I haven't gone off the deep end, yet, I promise. I'm still here.. but I do feel like jumping off the deep end just so I can escape from summer classes. Even though I only have 2 weeks left! I can see that light at the end of the tunnel. I've been a little MIA this summer. Sorry. I've been buried under tons of homework. I took a science methods class, a math concepts class, and a literature class this summer, which is an insane amount of work. Any kind of method/concepts class for education majors means a lot of work and a lot of presentations aka "teaching". Those classes are rough during a regular semester so just imagine taking them in the summer. *Shudder* Anyway, that is almost over meaning I got 4 classes out of the way and I am 7 classes closer to graduating :)

But besides school, life has been full of change. J just bought 5 acres of land that over looks a lake. So while he was closing I was there holding his hand, trying to calm his nerves. He was pretty nervous about one his first "big boy" purchase. Which is totally understandable. We plan on building a house so we're still trying to wrap our minds around that! We've been talking about this moment in our lives for so long. November marks our 5th year anniversary and by that time next year we will hopefully be married and celebrating in our new house! NEW HOUSE! I can't wait to say that. So while in the mean time, he's working on putting a ring on it ;)  Another change coming soon, is a little bundle of joy added to the family. My brother and sister-in-law will be expecting their first born this September. I can't wait for sweet cuddles with my baby nephew.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I know it's tempting to start counting the days back to school, but don't do it. I dare you not to look at that calendar. Ha, yeah right. Who am I kidding? 30 more days people!
Love,
Kristy

Beach Day

Hellooooo Summer '15! I've missed you so much! To celebrate completing my junior year J and I got a little R & R with just the two of us. Best thing about living on the coast is beach days whenever you want. Love it. Especially when you need a break from the reality. It's like a mini vacay without having to spend a lot of money. Hopefully this won't be our only beach day this summer. With 12 hours of college classes this summer I'm gonna need a whole lot of more beach days.
 And after...
Which is now actually a tan :) ha!

So while it's Saturday I still got a crazy amount of homework to do and a lot to catch up on since I'll be on a real vacation in a couple of weeks. *Insert "Vacations all I ever wanted, vacations all I ever needed"*
Have a good weekend.

Name Change

Hey bloggy peeps! Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday nights thus far. Just decided to drop on by real quick and let everyone know that I CHANGED MY  BLOG NAME (for the 20th time but whose counting)!! Yay!!

Reason being is I decided to have this blog be just a personal blog until I start teaching and then create a whole new blog for that! So in the meantime, I'll be here ranting about life. So without further ado: Welcome to Life With Kristy!! And now think I hear a glass of wine and Elle Woods
calling my name!
Have a great weekend!!

Love Kristy

You got that bow tie, tailored look in your eye and I got that white lace, beaded, thing that you like.

Currently suffering from wedding fever and Tay Swifts song "Style" running through my head.

Hence the long title to this post. No, I'm not engaged (yet) but a little blue bird informed me that it was coming soon. J and I have been together since November of 2010 and I've been dreaming about this moment for a long time. I feel so guilty for knowing that this moment is on the horizon but I wasn't told a specific date, so ha ;)  not feeling that guilty. Just super super super excited. I've already planned out how I want to announce it on Facebook. And since I've started blogging more, I'll probably post all about it on here! So no, ya'll cant know about my super cute idea to announce it. Hopefully I wont have to wait that long to post it! I'm hoping for maybe this summer :) but only time will tell.

And I know I should wait until the ring to start planning but I cant! We've causally been discussing wedding plans over the years and since we both love everything about the beach, we've decided on a beach themed wedding! And I have already found the perfect venue!! I wont reveal that until later too ;) You'll just have to stick around and find out!

I still feel ehh about blogging personal details but that was kind of the point of starting my blog anyway. To document my life through out the years. The good, the bad, the ugly, the crazy, everything. And to share some of life's moments with my readers :)

I also feel like I should open up my blog more and add more of "me" to it but when your apart of law enforcement it's one of those things you have to be careful about. I'm still thinking about it though so it's not completely off the table! Any LEO significant others have suggestions?

Also, If you happen to stop by my blog feel free to leave a comment! I would love to get to know my readers!! And I apologize in advance for constant use of !! but I can't help it, that's just me! :)

I'll be back to blog more soon!
Until next time,

Kristy

Dead Week

Well they don't call the week before finals dead week for nothing. My schedule for the past week has been study until 2-3 am, wake up at 9, class, and repeat. I am so ready for that little break between spring and summer classes.

I could blame finals for my lack of sleep but honestly it's my profound amount of procrastination that is the source of the problem. Procrastination + education portfolios= Cry myself to sleep before splurging on sweets  a wonderful opportunity to expand my knowledge. I found this Twitter account (edmajorprob) and absolutely love it! Here's the latest post.
Can anyone else relate?

Also, Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Honestly, teachers deserve a whole year of appreciation and margaritas, lots of margaritas.
Picture published by Blair Turner at http://www.blairturner.com. I absolutely love reading her blog. So many great resources.

Well I'll guess I'll leave it at that and get back to working on this portfolio :)
Happy hump day!
